Black Bean Burgers

Black Bean Burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. Packed with protein and fiber from black beans, these veggie burgers are easy to make and can be customized with your favorite spices and toppings. They're perfect for a satisfying lunch, light dinner, or even a backyard barbecue!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for grilling
  • Hamburger buns
  • Your favorite toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, etc.)

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a food processor, pulse together the black beans, onion, garlic, bell pepper, cilantro, bread crumbs, egg, cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  • Cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
  • Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, or until heated through.
  • Serve the patties on hamburger buns with your favorite toppings.
Tips:

  • For a smokier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika to the black bean mixture.
  • If you don't have fresh cilantro, you can use 1 tablespoon dried cilantro.
  • You can also bake the patties in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) instead of frying them.
  • Serve the patties with guacamole, salsa, or barbecue sauce for extra flavor.
